Translation Made Easy.

Xpress means to be able to communicate ones thoughts or feelings.

Xpress is a sign language translation app made for mobile phones. With the app, users would be able to translate sign language no matter where they are living in the world.

This was a collaborative project between students of RTA: New Media for the interaction design course at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Prototype

Problem

The issue that was being tackled is the barrier between those with hearing impairments and those who do not. There are many people who face challenges due this communication barrier.

Solution

With our app, people would be able to easily translate sign language to their native language, learn sign language, and be able to search for specific words.

How it Works

Xpress provides three main features that simplify communication

This allows users to translate sign language to language of choice

Learn

This allows users to learn new vocabulary and test their knowledge

Dictionary

This allows users to save specified words their bookmarks for review
